Set Up Live Online Piano Lessons via FaceTime

If you and your live online piano teacher each have an iPhone, iPad, or Mac, you can use FaceTime for your online piano lessons. In fact, with the update to iOS 15 and macOS Monterrey, even Android and PC users can use FaceTime, as long as one user is on an Apple device.
FaceTime is free, convenient, and delivers excellent sound and video quality. There is no need to sign up for an account or log in to use it.
Here’s a quick guide to setting up FaceTime for your live online piano lessons.
If both you and your online piano teacher have an Apple device:
Before your online piano lesson, exchange contact information with your online piano teacher. Save your teacher’s name and number to Contacts on your device so you will know when they are initiating the call.
At the time of your online piano lesson, wait for your teacher to start the FaceTime call. Tap the green Accept button to begin.
If you have an Android or Windows device:
Make sure you have the latest version of Chrome or Edge installed on your device.
Before your online piano lesson, your teacher will send you a link via text message or email.
When it’s time for your online piano lesson, tap or click on the link to begin. You’ll be prompted to enter your name. If FaceTime asks to use your microphone and camera, select Allow.
Select Join. Your online piano teacher will let you into the meeting shortly.
Tips for a great online piano lesson:
Position your device so the screen is facing the place you will be sitting for your lesson. It’s best if your online piano teacher can see both your face and hands.
If your teacher cannot see or hear you, try tapping the Mute or Camera button.
