How Live Online Piano Lessons Work

Piano Teachers Connect's online piano teacher Andree-Ann teaches an online piano lesson over Skype.

Live online piano lessons are an excellent way to improve your piano skills under the guidance of an expert teacher. Our online piano teachers are experienced in delivering high-quality, effective lessons that take advantage of the many benefits of online lessons.

Here’s how Online piano lessons work:

Before your Online piano lesson:

  • Before your lesson, you can communicate with your teacher via email or a messaging service like WhatsApp to discuss anything specific that you would like to work on.

  • Your online piano teacher will send you any materials you need to prepare for your lesson, such as music, exercises, and notes.

During your Online piano lesson:

  • Your online piano lesson will take place by video call on a platform such as Zoom, FaceTime, or Skype. At the arranged time, all you have to do is click the link your teacher sends you (on Zoom) or be ready to receive your teacher’s call (FaceTime/Skype).

  • During your online lesson, things will proceed just as they would in a face-to-face lesson. Your teacher will listen to you play and offer you feedback, demonstrate specific techniques, and guide you as you work on your piano technique and musicianship.

  • Your piano teacher will be able to see your hands and posture as you play, and you will likewise be able to see your teacher play. This will allow them to provide suggestions for improvement and to serve as a model for you.

  • Both you and your piano instructor will have a copy of the music you are working on. When your teacher pencils in notes on the score, they will show you on-screen so you can copy the notes onto your own score. This is important for reinforcing your understanding and reminding you of how to practice and perform a certain passage when you’re on your own.

After your Online piano lesson:

  • At the end of each lesson, your online piano teacher will send you any notes from the lesson via email. This will allow you to save your notes conveniently on your computer so you can review them as you practice throughout the week.

  • If you have any questions, be sure to contact your piano instructor by email, WhatsApp, or another messaging service. We are always here to help!
